B & K Components, Ltd. introduces the new Reference 7270, a high performance THXÆ Ultra-certified seven-channel amplifier. Rated at 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms, the 7270 amplifier was designed to provide the ultimate in high power amplification for todayís 7.1 channel surround sound systems. With the introduction of the 7270, B & K has made it easier for consumers to make the commitment to a 7.1 channel surround sound system by offering all the amplification theyíll need in a well-built and affordable package. With just one amplifier youíll be able to enjoy the sonic benefits of such new formats as Surround EXô, DTSÆ-ESô and even DVD-Audio, and the THX Ultra certification guarantees youíll be getting an amplifier that meets (and in some cases exceeds) the industryís highest standards. Manufactured in the U.S.A., the Reference 7270 utilizes the highest caliber electronic circuitry to achieve an environment wherein a detailed, transparent and highly musical sound can be realized. The 7270's generous high current power supply allows maximum power output to all seven channels for the ultimate home theatre experience. Even though the 7270 is a multichannel amplifier, B & K understood the audiophile's needs and designed a theatre amplifier that competes with the best two-channel audio amplifiers currently on the market. Like all of B & Kís highly acclaimed Reference series amplifiers, the Reference 7270 amplifier was built to the hilt using large, high capacity Torodial transformers, 1% metal film resistors and high current computer grade electrolytic power supply capacitors. Operating with a Class A pre-driver into an AB high current MOSFET power output stage, the 7270 reproduces the most demanding audio signals at rated power levels without distorting. In order for the amplifier to reproduce source material with three dimensionality and accuracy, B & K uses discrete circuitry in the Class A pre-driver. The 7270 comes with convenience features such as heavy-duty five-way binding posts, channel level controls, easily accessible fuses and an amplifier control muting input/output circuit. The control muting input/output circuit lets you easily turn on the 7270 remotely and 'daisy chain' it to other amplifiers. The 7270 retails for $3,298 and will be available the first quarter of 2001. The standard faceplate comes in brushed black but will also be available in silver and champagne gold for an additional $100. The unit is also available in widths of 17 and 19 inches to fit standard rack dimensions. In addition to the 7270, B & K offers the Reference 7250 and 7260 Series II, which are five-channel and six-channel amplifiers rated at 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 375 watts into 4 ohms. The 7250 retails for $2,498 and the 7260 for $2,798, and are both currently available. The new Series II have a brushed black faceplate, and are available with silver or champagne gold faceplates for a $100 premium. For more information about B & K Components, visit www.bkcomp.com.

I live in Portland as well! Did your service tech try calling ATI direct? Looks like ATI moved B and K production to the same SoCal facility producing the ATI lines of audio products. It seems logical then that hopefully a tech at ATI could have access to B and K schematics. I would make the first call there myself and see if they will forward the schematic to you via email or to your service tech. ATI's phone number is: 323-278-0001. They have a general email option but in this situation I would use the direct approach. Can I ask, did you buy the unit from Fred's Sound of Music? Seems like they have the staff to do the work. I salivate from time to time over the idea of buying a B and K 200.2. I am a fan of MOSFET amps. My aging Hafler 9180 still operates perfectly with very 'sweet' sound, but I have to admit the power in the 200.2 greatly tempts me!
